Someone Finally Said It
How many are actually paying attention to this?
There are African Americans,
Mexican Americans,
Asian Americans,
Arab Americans,
Native Americans, etc.
...And then there are just -
Americans.
You pass me on the street
and sneer in my direction.
You Call me "White boy,"
"Cracker," "Honkey,"
"Whitey," "Caveman,"
... And that's OK.
But when I call you Nigger,
Kike, Towel head,
Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey,
Beaner, Gook, or Chink
... You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot
of violence against you,
so why are the ghettos the most
dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
 You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
 You Have Yom Hashoah.
 You have the NAACP.
And you have BET.
If we had WET
(White Entertainment Television)
... We'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day
... You would call us racists.
If we had White History Month
... We'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites
to "advance" OUR lives
... We'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,
a Black Chamber of Commerce,
and then we just have the plain
Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that?
If we had a college fund that only gave
white students scholarships
... You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly-proclaimed
Black-only Colleges in the US ,
 yet if there were "White-only Colleges"
... THAT would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March,
you believed that you were
marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights,
... You would call us racists.
You are proud to be black,
brown, yellow and orange,
and you're not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride
... You call us racists.
You rob us,
carjack us,
and shoot at us.
But, when a white police officer
shoots a black gang member
or beats up a black drug-dealer
who is running from the LAW and
posing a threat to ALL of society
... You call him a racist.
I am proud.
... But, you call me a racist.
Why is it that only
whites can be racists?

Written  by an Australian Dentist...Way to Go "Mate"! 
 
 
You probably missed it in the rush of news, 
but there was actually a report that someone in 
Pakistan had  published in a newspaper an offer of a 
 reward to anyone who killed an  American, any American. 

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial  the 
following day to let everyone know what an American is 
 so they would  know when they found one. (Good one, 
mate!!!!) 
 
"An American is  English, or French, or Italian, 
Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or  Greek. An 
American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, 
Indian,  Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, 
Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani  or Afghan. 
 
An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee,  Osage, 
Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many 
other tribes  known as native Americans. 
   
An American is Christian, or he could be  Jewish, or 
Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims 
in  America  than in  Afghanistan. The only difference is 
 that in  America they are free to  worship as each of 
them chooses. 
   
An American is also free to  believe in no religion. 
For that he will answer only to God, not to  the 
government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for 
the government and  for God. 
 
An American lives in the most prosperous land in  the 
history of the world. The root of that prosperity can 
be found in the  Declaration of Independence, which 
recognizes the God given right of each  person to the

food, the best services. But they also welcome  the 
least. 
   
The national symbol of America, The Statue of  Liberty, 
welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse 
 of your  teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. 
These in fact are the people  who built   America.  Some 
of them were working in the Twin Towers the  morning of 
September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their 
 families.  It's been told that the  World  Trade  Center 
victims were from at least 30  different countries, 
cultures, and first languages, including those  that 
aided and abetted the terrorists. 
   
So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler 
did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and  Mao 
Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the 
world. But, in doing  so you would just be killing 
yourself. Because Americans are not a  particular 
people from a particular place. They are the 
embodiment of the  human spirit of 
freedom. 
 
Everyone who holds to that spirit,  everywhere, is an 
 American. 
 
Please keep this going! Pass this  around the World. 
Then pass it around again. It says it all, for all  of 
us.

Off Topic / Lobster boat vid - interesting bow shape in a sea trial

Cruising the ewetube today came across this vid of a Lobster boat on what looks to be designers or builders sea trial, the hull looks to be a semi-displacement type and the vid shows an interesting bow shape and the way it looks to cut through that bow wave.

Boat Building Tools / How to fit something on a foam sandwich structure

That structure could be a deck, coach roof, bulkhead, whatever.
There is in this forum a coach roof built with ply-foam-ply, way to go too, insulation and light weight high up in the boat.

So you forgot to sandwich a block in the structure huh.....  or want to add something later as the $$$ comes home. 

Simple fix. 

Tools needed.
Drill, drill bit, 1/4" (6mm) alan key. (ok, Allen) and a large syringe - from a vet is always good. Elephant size.

First draw an outline (foot print) of the item on the panel. Drill the fixing holes ONLY through the laminate into the foam the item is to be fixed too. DONOT at this stage drill right through (if you are to bolt through the deck, coach roof etc) no problem if you are only screwing to this laminate (be it ply, fibreglass etc)

Then in the center of this marked out area (to be finally covered by your item) drill a 3/8" (10mm) hole - again only through the laminate as explained above ok.

Grab the Allen key, put the long end in the drill chuck, the short end push into that 3/8 (10mm) hole and let ér rip!
Got it? Vac out the foam. If the short end of the Allen key isn't cutting it then stage 2 is to either make up one with a short length of Kiwi number 8 wire (pm me for kiwi 3" of  #8 wire $248.98 each  - gladly email you one  ) that has a longer short end.....enough to flog out the foam past the item's fixing holes. To what ever size you want. No rules here.
Just move the drill up and down to mush up that foam to aid vac'ing it out the 3/8 hole, bigger cavities need more room to put the longer short ended Allen key in, so, careful starting the drill.

Vac out the rubbish, helps if you don't cover the fixing holes with the vac pipe, the holes aid in letting air rush through helping rubbish to vacate. Step up the length of the short ended Allen key for a larger cavity in stages and vac as you do.

Now mix up some epoxy resin with talc or hard filler - runny brew ok (for screws to get a good bite on & through bolts wont compress your lovely finished laminate. 
Grab the syringe, fill it up with your epoxy mix, squirt it into the 3/8" hole slowly.
- Tip - I use a firm rubber (skool type) & drill a hole through the center, a little smaller than the elephant syringe tip, to poke the syringe nozzle into, then hold firmly over the 3/8 hole squirting epoxy slowly until it is seen coming out the fixing hole you drilled way back when (before you fell asleep reading this - see males don't do instructions very well aye)
There's something I forgot here....... oh yea, masking tape, all over the surrounding area as that poxy stuff (like sillycone!) goes every where! Chit I hate that stuff.
You could, on larger item foot prints, drill several 3/8 holes, but I woodn't go bigger on that hole the Allen key is spinning in, the hole is keeping the Allen key from going ballistic ok. Also it's easier to cover up the hole after the poxy has been squirted in. A 3/8 bolt with masking tape rapt around 4 or 5 rotations and pressed into that hole will stop poxy exiting without permission.

To stop the poxy stuff emptying out of your wonderful job, poke screws or a helpers fingers, in the fixing holes after poxy has started exiting - one at a time if that's how it works out ok, especially on a vertical or sloping laminate - bulkhead etc. Masking tape wont cut it, first it'll stick, for about 1 minute, then like your helper being bored poking fingers in those holes, it will slope off and your wonderful job will vacate it's epoxy.

On another note....
Probably not a good idea. Huh?
Heard you thinking see, don't put the item and it's fasteners in the epoxy before it has set.....
I know it's a good idea, not!
Well, the plurry thing won't come off for real, never!
And it's in the wrong place anyway aye lol..... see, I've done it lol.
Anyway the fasteners do break and then what? Or the seal goes pear shaped and leaks, etc.
It's too permanent.

Here's how I built mine.

1 3/4" ele conduit, 14' lengths, 2 1/2 lengths per 'rib' at 6 to 7' spacings.
Rondo 28mm furring channels (used in office fit-outs)
And steel stud - various sizes - what I had around. Drywall screwed to the ele conduit.
Bottom 'plate' has holes drilled for the conduit to be screwed once in the hole.
A 9M X 6M tarp stretched over this worked suburb!
The back structure is 2" poly panels (fridge panels) of a site some where....
Lights out of a rubbish skip I went past on a commercial building site. Think the ladder came from the same bin.....

Off Topic / Teak "off the shelf" joinery supplier - Thailand

I have been always looking over the innernet for ideas on interior and exterior joinery.

Found a supplier of finished teak joinery, as I don't have a joinery shop anymore this is probably the way I'll go to fit out the boat, the joiner is in Thailand, some of his milled teak is cheap and some, well, just costs the same if it were made locally IF there was a local joiner building this stuff and has it ready to buy "off the shelf".

Here's how I turned my hull over, I have a welder so made up the ends crossed my fingers, lifted with a 2" steam pipe tripod I also welded, with lots of tires under the hull, slowly winched her up - endless chain was the trick.

Use 'peel ply' 

This is like nylon fabric, thin slippery and has a coating so it can be peeled off the glass you are laminating.
It is the last laminate one lays onto wet resin with a disposable fine hair roller that smooths out the resin and glass laminate to a VERY fair smooth surface.
Never needing to sand or wash off that aramine blush, or sand smooth your layup - cos it got messy huh?
Peel ply is invented for this. Believe me NO MORE SANDING.
Want a fair surface for looks? Just trowel on epoxy fairing you mixed up directly to that surface.
I have even applied peel ply to fairing mix..... with mixed results lol, see that epoxy gets runny'er as it sets, it generates heat that has it run a little, even under peel ply.... bugger.... well just trying to eliminate spending too much energy on that 2'6" X 8" long board!

A tip - cut with very sharp craft knife on MDF board, and in small say 2' x 2' pieces for large areas, and about 2" bigger than the glass you are to lay up for smaller areas like long chine runs etc.  much much easier to lay up, I covered the whole inside bottom planking with peel ply - beeeeautiful finish 
When you cut your glass prior to lay up, cut 20% in area more of peel ply.
I find having lots of various sizes of cut peel ply at hand for smaller areas to cover is economical.

I have used it twice IF when I peel (I mean pull off) it off, I lay it flat ready to use, but only really ok on larger flat areas, it's no good for curves or corners as it's been saturated with resin and thus stiff.
Here in Ozzie it's $2 linial yard, about 50" wide.

It really IS possible to have a completely odor-free system!--honest!!!

Boat Building Tools / Teak decking? work out where the joins and hatches are first

I often see stuffed up teak decking on boats, so here's my 2c worth.

Work out where the hatches, fittings (this may need you to buy these first - not in the budget yet? Then take a sheet of cardboard to the the boat shop and copy the 'foot print' of it - the part afixed to the deck, cabin where-ever and transfer to the deck etc) are all going and mark out the spacings etc, e.g. stanchions around the duckboard in my pic below.

In the pic below I'm working out where to have the hatch edges so these can be on a join in the teak decking, also working out the width I want for the teak around the teak strip decking, so it all looks tickety boo, stanchions have been worked out where I want them - mainly for boarding her whilst at the dock, I'll have an easy clip on wire for those boarding, an fishing - gotta get that Marlin aboard!
I'm having the decking going for'n aft thus those markings.....

Cheap and VERY useful is getting yourself a line laser, I use it daily in my work as a carpenter (these daz!)
Best is the Lufkin Line Laser ($AUD375), it can be locked so you can hang it from the ceiling to get a cross hair line, for example, having one line on the center line of the hull, deck etc, and the other 90 deg line used to get that bulkhead bunk end what-ever line looking square one the boat.
