I love this!  What kind of wood did you use to build the model?

Any builders reading this?  Did you glass your spray rails?   Why? Why not?  I intended to but I’m not sold. Your .02 please
I didn't on my Tolman, but wish I had as just this year I had to completely remove and replace one of them due to rot.  Only a tiny breach in the epoxy coating caused it to suck up water like a straw over time.

Outstanding work, sir!

I used white PVC pipe for the chases in my Tolman.   I didn't drill any drain holes.

Yeah, that's a pretty bad rafter job Rbob.

On your boat - I, personally, would glass every last piece of exposed wood, whether it's on that door or not.

I can appreciate the "poor planning" part extremely well.  It seems that I can spend hours upon hours of trying to plan where to lay out something and I always run into a similar issue.  Hell, I don't make many more boo-boos if I just "wing it" and not spend any time planning.
As I like to say in my home repair business: "Measure twice, cut once, then beat it into place with a hammer!"

Fill in on either side of the hump and then sand and blend it in.  Kinda like doing a butt-joint in drywall.

What's going on with that hatch directly below the bulkhead?

9
Brian, do you have any pictures or is there a thread here on this site that shows Adrian's design for his walk-through cuddy cabin?

I'm in North Carolina, Todd.  What length did you build?

I'm thinking about having a bare hull built instead of building one myself.  I built a Tolman 20 years ago, but I'm not sure my knees are and shoulders are up to the task of building another.

I thought that that was the whole point of graphite - that it keeps UV penetration to the very surface keeping the epoxy underneath from getting damaged.
That's my understanding as well.

Excellent idea on those divots, Brian.

Brian, do you have any 3D views of the different styles of the GA?  I just can't envision the differences between the Prince Rupert and Newport versions in the area around the pilot house and forward.

Brian, I just discovered that you have already addressed this issue in this thread on fishyfish: https://fishyfish.com/boards/general-discussion-tolman-skiffs/great-alaskan-what-is-it/
