Those use porta potti
« on: September 23, 2017, 04:13:52 PM »
If you are using a porta potti in your GA or any boat for that matter.  Please post model numbers with the recommendations of any.  Also would be great to have dimensions used to enclose  porta potti.
   Thanks all

Is this the route mostly used vs. full Marine head with tank and pumps

Found what looks like a pumpable unit with integral holding tank.  Looks simple. I think I would require a way to dump if no pump out was available.

I tried to paste in the link

Jamestown has several versions https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/main.do
as does Defender Marine https://www.defender.com
What I did through my entire build was to source the unit I wanted at the above dealers then once I found what I wanted I would do a specific search for the desired product Internet wide to find the best price on said product.
That being said, when I built the bunks in the cuddy, I built using the average dimensions of the Portable toilet I intended to purchase. I wanted the comfort height model, with pump out capability and five gallon capacity.
All of the better models will fit in the area allotted.
I chose not to build the specific space allocated for the head because for the most part it will get the least use. Allocating space for a bathroom really cuts back on usable space. For those doing day trips, it might work, but for those who want to do extended trips, you loose major space.

Yup ... the link worked fine.  It's a nice compact unit.... and says "no smell".  Gotta like that!

As far as what people use, it ranges from 'hold it until port' to a 5-gallon buck w/luggable loo seat to port-potties to full tank installations.  It kind of depends on where you want to make room for it, and your planned boat usage ... day trips or camping?  Women aboard or not?

I will look at the links provided by Cannon. Thanks Kent.  I'm trying to make things as comfy for momma as possible.  Happy wife, happy life!!!   That and I have 3 daughters.  We can pretty good for a week in a 8 1-2 foot camper.  Judging by Cannon's build I think I can make it work.  It's a small price for me to pay for her blessing.

Don't forget a shower and extra large water tank...😜 Or maybe you should just take a cruise 🤠

Just kidding, God only gave me boys. He knew I would be whipped if I had girls, besides I would be cleaning weapons and doing live fire drills every time they brought a boy home...

I think the best spot is right between the kicker and the main motor, nice secure feeling with a nice breeze.   ;D

I saw a guy on Prince William Sound in Alaska using his one time ... he had the porta-potty sitting in the anchor well up in the bow, facing forward ... and there he happily sat, breeze in the face and enjoying the morning.... boat trolling along with his buddy at the wheel.  Can't beat that... :)
