Is that the first fish in the boat?  Is it a Yellow Eye?

Great to see the family having great times together!

Nope, it was a canary rockfish, legal. Diana caught it, first fish on the boat (not counting a small black rockfish she also caught. She later caught a nice 28” lingcod so she kept is fed.

Did I mention how great that boat is?

I couldn't remember if the yellow eyes were legal or not, and knew there was another red rockfish type out there ... but couldn't remember that one either!  :)

Congrats on the christening ... by you at the dock and by first blood on the ocean!  Did I tell you that Ling is my favorite fish?  I've eaten too much halibut ... And other than black rockfish, rockfish in general is my 2nd best choice.  Gino's in Newport (aka Ocean Blue or something like that) has the BEST rockfish fish-n-chips ... my fave!

Glad you're happy with the boat!  You and your family earned it twice over!!
