Hull costs?
« on: April 27, 2019, 08:36:52 PM »
Hey guys, it's been almost 20 years since I launched my 21' Tolman Widebody, which I believe I spent less than $3,000 building the hull itself.  I'm sure material costs have gone up quite a bit since then.
What kind of costs are y'all seeing these days for a completed Alaskan Skiff hull?

There is a thread here where several builders lay out their costs, documented in a spreadsheet that you can reference.

It's a couple years old but I think it's still pretty accurate. I am building currently and expecting to pay about $6-8k once everything shakes out.

Thanks, guys.

Because of all the different suppliers and different types of wood and epoxies, hull costs can vary a lot from one builder to the next, but all within a grand or so of each other for the basic hull.  The biggest price differences come from differences in superstructure, outfitting (electronics and appliances), level of finish, trailer choice, and powering options.  I like how the boat can be built on a budget or can be pushing Cadillac Style or anywhere in between, duty-bound workboat, or house on the water :)
