That marlin is the coolest fish ever! I can only hope to dream.
All my fellow Grate Alaskan builders are welcome to come give it a try!!

Wow that is an awesome trip!! It's so beautiful up there. The GA is an awesome boat for always bringing ya home safe, even when the forecast throws you a curveball in the middle of the night 50 miles off shore!!! Don't ask me how I know this...lol

What a beautiful boat! I'm not surprised at what the appraisal came in at. Just for comparison I now have about 125k in my 31' Kodiak as she sits today in the attached photos. My appraisal came in at 225k but that was before I even had motors on. There was an allowance added for the motors but I'm pretty sure it would appraise higher today. I've added a lot of equipment needed for fishing in Mexico.

Congratulations on your daughter's engagement and upcoming wedding!  Big day for all!

I think I figured out why you use so many hand-tool sanding devices ... you're building up your arm muscles for when you catch a fish bigger than the one that Chuck caught!  You CAN you know ... right in Oregon.  I caught a 550# 'oversize' sturgeon on the Columbia once ... that's 25% bigger than Chuck's black marlin!  It's your turn!

Glad to see your back on it!!! Looking forward to seeing the progress

Thanks!! It was a catch of a lifetime. It did take everyone on board to do their part.  I sure hope she continues to get bloody decks, starting off with a hard act to follow!

I like the teensy gaff laying on the gunnel while you've got a monster fish on your line ...
Yea ya sure had to keep that gaff off the rail...lol Time for an up grade!!!

General Discussion about the Great Alaskan / Re: Steering issue

Well, nothing really changed.  Still takes two arms to turn to port.  Notice I did not say two hands!  It’s been suggested that I might try a 4 blade prop?  Well see.  I’m not giving up
I'm going out Wednesday, I'll try to remember to check mine. But I sure don't recall anything difficult steering to port. But I'm not running a second station. I  am running twin 140's

Went out on a shakedown fishing trip to work out all the bugs before really going after it. What a surprise when this baby decided to kick our butts. Took 4 1/2 hours to land it, all 5 of us had mutable turns at cranking on the reel. I originally guessed the weight at 350 but have had many here say it's at least 400+. Its going to be a fun summer, fishing season is just starting

I have to say out of all the amazing different GA's I have seen in the past few years Team Lindy's wins my #1 pick. So well thought out from bow to stern. Love the extended pilot house...well done, everything looks first class!!!

Wow...Looks amazing! I sure love all the great ideas you guys come up with!!!

I may have had some luck with the state since the county is totally unresponsive.  They may wave the inspection with my provided survey.  Its up to a supervisor's supervisor.  Fingers crossed!!
Seems like all your wood and raw materials receipts should be proof enough along with credit card or canceled checks. What about your build blog on this site, send them the link

that's a good idea, maybe I'll make the run back up...hahaha

For guides are you talking about the pvc risers?  I’m almost positive we have the exact same trailer.
I can't remember if these came with the trailer or I added them. They are pretty tall, you can see how the pole is bent out from the side pressure. If ya pull out slow seems to work well.
