Where will you put-in when it's time to launch?

Hi, and welcome.

Where a'bouts in western Wash?

What I did on my 24' Jumbo.  Hope some find them useful.

Apologies!  some of the pic didn't make it on.

In my case, I put all the electrical runs in conduit under the deck.  The hydraulic hoses (steering) and gas lines are run under the gunnel shelf.  There I could easily see them and if something started leaking, or if for some other reason, I wanted to get them right away (!), I wouldn't have go for my sawzall.

What a great number!    Congratulations!

Please let us know what your insurance is willing to cover -- value or replacement cost.  Also, I didn't see that the numbers included the trailer?  In any event, it's worth every cent of it!

Were you surprised at any of the detailed findings in the survey?

I went with Foremost Insurance out of Grand Rapids, Mich.  I started with an insurance broker I work with for some other insurance requirements -- Insurance Services Group (western Washington State).  They shopped around and had trouble finding anyone to issue a policy for a homebuilt boat with a reasonable premium.  The broker checked with State Farm, Progressive, and one or two others. With Foremost Insurance, I had to answer a number of questions and I provided a copy of a survey.  For a trailered boat in dryland storage 9 months of a year, they covered up to a limit of $219,000. That included boating across the border into Canada.  The annual premium is a bit over $900.

I'm curious:  What did they enter instead of home built?  te

Ray Brown put one in his Jumbo (started 2004).  See  <http://www.backporchboat.org/engine001.html> for pictures of their installation.

What a great looking boat!  Your careful attention to detail and thoughtful design jumps out at me.

Question:  How did you account for (potential) bad weather?

I'm way behind reading the forum, but I don't see any replies to it.  I need to get mine registered, also looking for wit, wisdom and keen insights on the topic.

I bought mine from Fisheries Supply, Seattle.

For the Motion windows, we used the foam tape that they sent. No problems.  For Wynne, they told us to use 4200, which we did.  No problems there, except that between the initial test fit and installation, we had added two coats of primer and two of top coat.  So, we had to go back and do a bit of sanding.  Our bad.

Bob,  What level of VOCs are you dealing with?

The last time I had anything to do with contact cement, a fella had to wear a full faced, heavy duty, carbon-based respirator.  And then it took more than a day to get the fumes out of the building I was working in.

BTW regardless, I'm jealous.  What a fine interior you'll have!

My 2 cents, and you get what you pay for --

I wired up a wire size or two not because of the amps, but purely because of the voltage drop over a long distance and at the same time forgot to include the return leg.

The other place I occasionally over looked was actually running some scrap wire thru the same curves, holes and other not straight runs to account for the actual length of the path to be used.  I confess: I got lazy and tried to eye-ball it, that almost never worked out.  <shrug>

Best of luck to ya.

General Discussion about the Great Alaskan / Re: primer bulb or not?

Glad you raised the issue.  My Suzuki dealer says, Yes for priming after you've had the fuel system apart.   This is for a Suzuki 150.
