I would also verify with the tec turning upside down is not an issue. Also be sure there is no taper from top to bottom of the bracket...Just my 2 cents:)

I probably should not chime in here because my knowledge of this kind of stuff is a bit foggy:) It's my understanding (read my prior disclaimer) your still to high. If your in your last hole moving down you might consider an extension bracket with manual or hydraulic adjustable lift. I'm pretty sure it would just mount in your existing transom holes

Introductions - Are you new here? Say hello! / Re: Finally bought the plans

I have emailed the Saltwater Workshop to try get some prices quotes, haven't heard back yet. That shop is closer.
I always send inquiries to Jim at Saltwater when someone is back that way. He does the same for folks out my way. We both believe in the design, weather you start from scratch or with a kit. If ya want the best just geter done anyway that works:)

I could not agree more with what Dan said. I would only add its pretty easy to make a temporary shelter extension off the front of your garage/shop in a lot of situations. Hopefully you can get creative if you need a few more feet. I took my GA-Kodiak from San Diego to Puerto Vallarta down the Pacific side of Baha, 8 day cruise. First night was very un-forecasted seas, I believe any other boat in my class the outcome that dark night would have been disasters. Bear in mind I have been fishing off the Oregon Coast in the PNW the last 15 years, so I'm a bit familiar with sloppy/nasty seas. Some might think I praise the GA because I sell kits. That's sooo wrong, I sell kits because I believe in the Great Alaskan and everything it brings to the table. Even if I could afford 450k for something of its comparable size in a factory built boat, I would still preferer my GA. I had a 30' Marlin Grady White, anytime I was getting close to 1 MPG I was doing the happy dance!!!!!

General Discussion about the Great Alaskan / Re: Steering issue

I finally remembered to check my steering, mine seams to be fine turning both ways. No noticeable difference turning either way at any speed

I love & use my bow thruster almost every time, short little burst really help. Yes they are loud, even on the bigger boats I see in the marina here. I always get a kick out of peoples faces when they see I have a bow thruster. Your boat turned out amazing!! I always love seeing all the different ideas to fit peoples wants and needs. Well done!

I like how the HIN number has GA28 in it. BTW that it by design, I have some discretion how I issue a HIN number:)
That would be cool.  In Oregon it’s ORZ######## if the state issues it. Z is home built
The HIN identifies the boat manufacture (WEW) which is in this case is a kit from West Coast Boat Works. I'm registered as a boat manufacture with the US Coast Guard. The next 4 characters (SGA28) are listed at my discretion, in this case it stands for a standard 28' 8'6" GA. If it was a Kodiak the "S" would be a "K". The last 4 characters identify month and year of the boat. The OR number is a state registration number, it has nothing to do with the HIN:)

Wow she really turned out GREAT !!! Well done Gary!!
You will also find getting full value on the hull from an insurance perspective will be a lot easier. Your title will show "West Coast Boat Works" as the manufacture, rather than saying "Home Built" I also think it helps if you ever tried to sell.

Yes it tracks straight.  I think the hard steering that follows the prop rotation really tells the story.  I’ll live with it. Just need to sacrifice smooth ride for rough steering.  If I’m not trying to push the bow down of course it’s better.  I’ve been steering by touch screen now and don’t fight it so much any more
Yep the auto pilot doesn't seem to mind:)  I use mine 90% of the time, it tracks way better on the pond than I can manually steer.

Announcements / Re: Wynne Windows - Are you sure you want them?

I haven't had any issues either and my boat was moored on the Oregon Coast for close to 2 years. She got might wet. Now that we are in PV with the rainy season coming we will see. It can rain here really hard and long. Glad I have 2x6 scuppers, from what I hear a boat or two sink every year while moored from the rains.

Wow that is an awesome trip!! It's so beautiful up there. The GA is an awesome boat for always bringing ya home safe, even when the forecast throws you a curveball in the middle of the night 50 miles off shore!!! Don't ask me how I know this...lol

Should be a song ... Climbin' and Surfin' All Night Long....

:D
I LIKE THAT ONE!!!
