Paint touch up
« on: June 05, 2024, 08:03:22 AM »
Looking for a little advise. Thinking about putting some fresh paint on the rear deck area. I painted with alexseal . My question is while I?m repainting I was thinking of faring a few areas that I didn?t get smooth the first time around. How far do I  need to sand down to fix these spots ? Can I just use an automotive filler and then paint. Thoughts?

FWIW I wouldn?t have considered auto supplies.  I have reached out to Alexseal several times and they always get me the best answer.   I would use gel magic to avoid buying more epoxy.  Plus it is hands down the best I have used for filling in holes for screws.  Always adding something.  I still have a tiny bit for wetting the wood before I use the gel magic.   Quick fair would be super easy and it dries fast too.  My decks are wrecked too but I?m not ready to make paint repairs.  My .02

That Alexseal has clear through out the paint.  Make your repairs, spray with Alexseal finish primer, then 3 coats of topcoat.  Wait 10 days and wet sand with 1500 to 3000 grit and buff.
