First Antelope
« on: October 21, 2024, 01:45:58 PM »
After drawing permits in Montana I bagged a buck and does, no doe pics.

Its my first time Antelope hunting and I am new to long range shooting, I did make a 575 yard shot on this buck it was facing me. (I did not hear my buddy say wait until he turns!  ;D)

One shot downhill and blew out the top of the heart.

Oh, Gun is a 6.5x47 Lapua with 130gr Berger bullet.

Great buck and nice dead center shot ... did the bullet pass through the diaphragm?

No, did not pass the diaphragm, exploded.  First for me, usually the bullet keeps going, maybe some exit at the ribs.

Nice looking prong horn. Our boat is hooked up to the truck waiting for that weather window to go out in the fall. Big seas in Lynn canal today, hopefully will subside by tomorrow so we can get to the outer coast and get our deer for the year.  No 500 yard shots happing up here. I am good for 50 yards and Ms Jones for 100 yards.
