What about cooking
« on: March 02, 2020, 05:33:23 PM »
On my 28' sailboat, I had no qualms about cooking aboard becuase it had a diesel engine.  However, just thinking of cooking on an open flame adjacent to 100 gals of gasoline makes my hair stand on end.  What do Y'all think of this?

People do it day in and day out ... diesel or alcohol, sometimes propane or butane.

If you design your fuel tank location to NOT vent into the house (from sneak under deck passages or wherever), then you'll be fine. Venting fuel fumes into the cockpit is fine and the fresh air dilutes it enough to never be an issue.  People use open-flame heaters in these boats too.
