NPTF Pipe fitting
« on: July 03, 2020, 08:07:46 AM »
Iím posting this in hopes of helping others avoid making the same mistake I made. I had a fuel tank built and the only missing part was the 3/8 barbed fitting for the fuel hose. Every fitting I tried to screw in was just a little to tight and felt like I was cross threading the fitting. After some research I learned about NPTF threads ( national pipe thread fuel ). These threads are designed to use no thread dope that can desolove and leak. The threads are designed to mesh together and seal themselves, hens the reason it felt like a cross thread. Iím sure someone on this forum could explain this better but I hope this helps someone else some headaches.
